Six Steps to Your Published Book
Every journey is unique. We tailor our process to meet you exactly where you are.
Discovery & Voice
We begin with a deep-dive DREAM MEETING to understand your project, your themes, and what you want your book to be. Whether you have one poem or two hundred, we meet you exactly where you are. If you are writing a novel, memoir or children's book, that's fine too. This session helps shape the direction, tone, and structure of your book.
1 sessionWriting & Gathering
Not sure if you have enough poems/words yet? Our writing coaching helps you develop new pieces, revisit old ones, and build a collection that feels whole and intentional.
4–8 weeksEditing & Refinement
Our professional poetry editors offer both line-level and big-picture feedback. We look at sequencing, pacing, imagery, and emotional resonance — helping you say exactly what you mean, with precision and beauty. You always make the final call.
2–4 weeksDesign & Layout
Your book's interior and cover should be as beautiful as the words inside. Our designers collaborate with you to create a look that's uniquely yours — elegant typography, thoughtful spacing, and a cover that commands attention on any shelf.
2–3 weeksPublishing & Distribution
We provide guided mentorship throughout every stage of the self-publishing journey, ensuring you feel informed, supported, and confident from manuscript to publication. Our role is to help you understand the full publishing process — covering key considerations such as file preparation, ISBN usage, distribution options, and platform-specific requirements. As your project nears completion, we will coordinate a dedicated "publish" meeting, during which we work with you in real time to upload and finalize your book files on your chosen platform, such as Amazon KDP and/or Ingram Spark. You retain 100% of your rights and all royalties go directly to you.
1–2 weeksLaunch & Celebration
Your book launch is a milestone worth celebrating. When you publish with us, you become part of our unique and wonderful community of women poets whose work is featured on our social media accounts and here on our Poems and Power Publishing website.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to have all my poems written before I start?
Not at all. Many of our clients begin with a handful of poems and a desire to write more. We offer coaching that helps you discover and develop your collection from wherever you are today.
Will I own my book and all my rights?
Absolutely. You retain 100% of your rights, your copyright, and all royalties. We are a service provider, not a traditional publisher. Your book belongs entirely to you.
How long does the process take from start to published?
It depends on how much support you need and how complete your manuscript is. Most clients go from discovery call to published book in 3–5 months. We never rush the creative process.
Where will my book be sold?
You choose! Most authors publish on Amazon (KDP), IngramSpark (which distributes to bookstores), or both. You can also sell directly from your own website. We handle the upload to whichever platforms you prefer.
Do you only work with poetry? What about memoirs or essays?
Poetry is our heart and specialty, but we also work with prose poetry, lyric essays, and short memoir collections. If you're a woman with a story to tell in a literary form, we'd love to hear from you.
Do your packages include illustrations for children's books or do I have to hire my own illustrator?
The relationship between a children's book author and thier illustrator is a deep collaboration and while we can connect you with potential illustrators for hire, your arrangement with them will to be made independently of Poems and Power Publishing.
What is your refund policy?
At Poems and Power Publishing, we believe that publishing a book is an act of courage and a journey of transformation. From the moment we begin working together, we invest our time, expertise, and creative energy into bringing each author's vision to life. For this reason, payments are non-refundable once work has commenced. We understand that doubts, obstacles, and unexpected circumstances can arise during the publishing process, and our promise is to stand beside our authors through those moments with compassion, encouragement, and unwavering support as we work together to bring their story into the world.
